Professional Supervision & Mentoring - Speech Pathology

Thoughtful, practical professional support for clinicians who want to strengthen their skills, clinical reasoning and confidence.

Professional growth doesn’t always come from another course.

Sometimes, what makes the biggest difference is having space to talk through a complex case, reflect on your clinical reasoning, explore new approaches and learn alongside someone who understands the realities of clinical practice.

Lucie Regan, Founder and Director of Sunshine Speech & Allied Health and Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP), offers individual professional supervision and mentoring for speech pathologists seeking supportive, reflective and practical professional development.

Sessions are collaborative and tailored to your experience, caseload, interests and professional goals — whether you are early in your career, developing skills in a particular clinical area or simply wanting another experienced clinician to think alongside you.

Support that is relevant to your practice.

There is no one-size-fits-all supervision agenda.

Sessions can focus on the clinical, professional or practice-based areas that are most useful to you at that point in your career.

Areas may include:

  • clinical reasoning and intervention planning

  • complex or multifaceted client presentations

  • neurodiversity-affirming practice

  • gestalt language development and echolalia

  • AAC and complex communication needs

  • speech and language assessment and intervention

  • feeding, swallowing and mealtime support within Lucie’s areas of practice

  • working effectively with families, educators, support workers and multidisciplinary teams

  • NDIS documentation, recommendations and clinical reporting

  • navigating scope of practice, ethical considerations and clinical decision-making

  • building confidence as an early-career clinician

  • reflective practice and clinician wellbeing

  • leadership, supervision and professional development

  • private practice and service development.

Who is supervision for?

Professional supervision and mentoring can be valuable at every stage of practice.

Lucie can support:

New graduates and early-career speech pathologists
Build confidence, consolidate clinical skills and develop strong foundations for independent practice.

Clinicians developing a new area of practice
Talk through assessment, intervention, resources and clinical reasoning as you extend your knowledge and skills.

Sole practitioners and clinicians working regionally
Have access to another clinician for reflection, discussion and professional connection when you may not have a large speech pathology team around you.

Experienced clinicians
Use supervision as protected space to reflect on complex work, refine practice, explore new evidence or work through professional challenges.

Clinicians moving into leadership or supervision roles
Explore team leadership, clinical governance, supporting other clinicians, feedback and sustainable practice.

This breadth is consistent with the way Speech Pathology Australia describes professional support: it can develop clinical and professional skills, knowledge, confidence, quality and safety of practice.

Flexible support

One-off or ongoing

Some clinicians want regular supervision. Others simply need an experienced clinician to consult when a challenging case or professional question arises.

Supervision can be arranged as:

  • individual sessions

  • regular ongoing supervision

  • short-term mentoring around a specific clinical area or professional goal

  • case consultation

  • professional development planning.

Ballina or online

Sessions can be offered in person at SSAH in Ballina or via telehealth, making professional supervision available to clinicians across Australia

A reflective, practical approach

Supervision should feel useful - not performative.

Lucie’s approach is collaborative, strengths-focused and grounded in real clinical practice.

You can bring a particular case, question or area of uncertainty to a session, or use supervision more broadly to work towards longer-term professional goals.

The focus is not on having someone tell you exactly what to do.

Instead, sessions create space to:

Reflect → explore → problem-solve → build knowledge → identify practical next steps.

Lucie brings the same values to professional supervision that underpin SSAH’s clinical work: curiosity, evidence-informed practice, neurodiversity affirmation, collaboration, felt safety and respect for individual differences.

That aligns particularly well with the language already used in Lucie’s current website biography and the wider SSAH positioning.
